On Saturday evening, a tragic incident occurred in Darbhanga district, Bihar, during a Muharram procession, resulting in the death of one individual and injuries to 24 others, according to police reports.
District Magistrate Kaushal Kumar informed that the mishap took place as the Muharram procession was passing through Kakorha village in the Saketpur police station area. He noted that a part of the Tazia came into contact with high-tension power lines.
Kumar stated, "One person has lost their life, and 24 others have sustained injuries." He added that officials from the district administration and police promptly transported the injured to a nearby hospital, where their condition is reported to be stable.
The police are currently investigating the incident. In a separate occurrence, two individuals were injured during a clash between groups from different communities in the Bariyarpur area of Muzaffarpur district during another procession.
Speaking to reporters, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sushil Kumar from Muzaffarpur explained that the altercation arose after a heated argument between the two communities as the Muharram procession passed through the Gaurihar area of the Bariyarpur police station.
He mentioned that the police quickly brought the situation under control, and some individuals have been detained as the investigation continues.
